Our Work
We enable education for poor children in poor countries. The education
develops "hands, heads and hearts" - teaching practical skills, technical
knowledge and empathy and ethics or "how to be a good citizen".
Donations are used to provide scholarships to poor children aged between
8 and 18 allowing them to attend school. Without the scholarship their
families are unable to send them to school and the alternative is usually
to work as labourers.
The children are selected on the basis of ability as well as need. Many
scholars excel and are able to obtain further scholarships to attend university
(eg Harvard) and obtain professional qualifications. They are then in
a good position to help the communities and countries from which they
originated.
We are focusing efforts in India and Zambia (International
Children's Village March 2009 update here), although we have alumni
foundations also working in Nepal, Thailand, Tibet and Vietnam.
We help 2 girls for every 1 boy because females are most at risk and
can make the biggest improvements in their community.
All of your donations go directly to helping children. We have a zero
administration cost policy. All administration costs are paid by Trustees
or special donors who have specifically donated funds for administration.
Therefore your donations are not needed to pay staff, postage or travel
and can go directly to helping children.
Alumni of PestalozziWorld programmes often give back directly by establishing
foundations to continue
the scholarship programme for others in their countries.
We currently have about 450 children in scholarship programmes and over
800 benefitting from related projects.
Please support these children with your donation. This
page gives details of how you can contribute. Thank you.
You can read more about the work we do in the pages About
Us (which outline our history and organisation) and Circles
of Success (which tell about our scholars, projects and foundations).
