Success StoriesThese stories illustrate the wonderful contributions that alumni have
made, giving back to the community and creating opportunities for others.
(Drafted 2005) Gita Devi Shrestha, a Nepalese student from Gorkha, has just begun her career in nursing, employed at Siddhi Memorial Hospital in Bhaktapur, near Kathmandu, having completed her nursing course this year, getting 79% and thus gaining the top grade in nursing throughout Nepal. Gita was supported by the Pestalozzi Overseas Children's Trust for 10 years, 1993 - 2003, firstly at Gyanodaya Bal Batika Secondary School and secondly at Tri-Chandra Nursing Campus, both in Kathmandu, Nepal. She achieved top grades throughout her sponsorship, while showing commitment to working for the good of her country - an ideal reflected in her career choice. Gita was in the first group of students to receive Pestalozzi Overseas sponsorship and therefore amongst the first to graduate. She sets a great example for everyone!
Tenzin was supported for his secondary level education at the Tibetan Children's Village by the Pestalozzi Overseas Children's Trust, until this year, when he was selected by the Pestalozzi International Village to take the 2-year sixth form level International Baccaluareate in the UK. Tenzin's reports demonstrate that he achieved high marks and was creative,
cheerful and confident throughout his schooling. Gayatri Singh completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Ranchi Women's College, Jharkand, North India in 2004. She has been supported by the Pestalozzi Overseas Children's Trust for the last 10 years, through her secondary and tertiary level education. Gayatri shows extraordinary commitment to the betterment of her local
community, being involved in many social activities in Ranchi, including
helping to grow vegetables for her local community and raising money both
for a young girl needing a heart operation and food for a baby found abandoned
in her village. Gayatri has attended the last three Reunions for Pestalozzi Asian Foundation members and is committed to working for the Indian Pestalozzi Students Trust in its support of the secondary level education of needy children in India. As one of the first students to be supported by Pestalozzi Overseas, she is a great role model for those younger than her to follow.
