A summer camp for Thai Foundation students was held in October 2003. For more information contact jan @ kimeng.co.th. The Thai Pestalozzi Foundation
The Thai Pestalozzi Foundation, based in Bangkok, was registered in 1990. The objective of the Foundation is to "give the poor bright children a chance to develop their skills and intelligence through education". The Foundation looks after 41 children in schools throughout Thailand. About half of these children are funded by the Thai Foundation and the others by POCT. In addition to occasionally digging into their own pockets to provide a needy school or child with some piece of equipment, most of the fifty-odd Pestalozzi alumni who are living and working in Thailand are involved in the Thailand Foundation for Further Education (the "Foundation"), which currently looks after 41 children in Thailand. Chaiyan Tippayosot, an alumnus and head of the fundraising committee, explains that the sponsorship "frees the child from the family obligations so he or she can focus on their studies". The Foundation sponsors mostly secondary school children, who bear the most pressure to help the family financially, and who are no longer sponsored by the government (only primary education is paid for). Altogether 11 students are now studying at University level. Parents and children are interviewed, and those with the brightest potential and best track records, both academically and socially, are chosen for sponsorship. This includes travel (as the children live at home), school uniforms, tuition and supplies, and meals taken at school.
