Country Foundations

POCT has helped set up and support, both financially and otherwise, in-country Foundations run by some of the Pestalozzi Alumni, who are mainly graduates of the UK Pestalozzi Village in East Sussex. The work of these Foundations is described further on the following pages:

These Foundations not only sponsor students in their own right, but also help with the selection and follow-up of other Pestalozzi sponsored students in their countries. In addition to the Pestalozzi-sponsored scholars,the Foundations support a total of 60 students. The India Foundation supports 7, the Thai Foundation 37 and the Nepalese Foundation sponsors 16.

One of the long-term objectives of PestalozziWorld is for each foundation to take over the sponsorship scheme, so that PestalozziWorld can move on to help children from other countries join the Circle Of Success.

The Pestalozzi Foundations work to further the aims of Pestalozzi by helping with the education of bright children from economically poor families ensuring that the education lays emphasis on the development of the whole child - practical skills and social awareness as well as academic skills. The ideals of Pestalozzi are also promoted among the children they help, especially stressing the part they may play to bring about the circle of success.

The Circle Of Success is the process in which a person who has benefited in life from help received during formative years provides similar help to those disadvantaged as he or she once was.
